The ONBC Code & What is a Tidbit?

Unread post by Liz » Tue Jul 06, 2004 8:27 pm

The rules of the board are as follows:

1) Be courteous and respectful of the other members. But remember—it’s OK to disagree.

2) Do not to abbreviate your words too much (i.e. “u” for “you”). It can be a task to read a whole post full of those.

3) Keep the discussion to book related matters as much as possible--but we’ve been known to digress now and then.

4) Keep to the code. But we figure they are more actual………guidelines.

You can't judge a book by its cover.

The only thing that matters is the ending. It's the most important part of the story.

What is a Tidbit?

What is a Tidbit?

Tidbits about each book are posted for 2-4 weeks prior to a book discussion. These tidbits contain information about the author, setting, history or other topics mentioned in the book that we hope will give the reader to a better understanding of the book.

Discussion about tidbits is not discouraged. However, we ask that the content of the discussion be restricted to the subject of the tidbit topic only, refraining from tying it into the book content, namely its storyline or characters (their history, motivations, purpose or dynamics between each other). The reason for putting a limit on such discussion is twofold—for one, it might reveal spoilers; and two, it could potentially wipe out multiple discussion questions.

Thank you for your interest in ONBC and for your consideration!
