MINAMATA Updates

Unread post by fireflydances » Sat Feb 26, 2022 4:27 pm

Absolutely do this! It isn't stressful at all. I already followed The Academy. I tweet maybe 8 times in a row, two times a day. Now and then I do only the required #Minamata, #OscarsFanFavorite, #Sweepstakes -- but I find I enjoy it better when I send a little message first. Stuff like "Minamata shouldn't have been ignored," or "Accolades to Levitas and Depp!" They got to be different all the time -- they notice if you repeat yourself.

I always carefully list the required three phrases. I did receive notice from the Academy that my name has been added into the sweepstakes after about about two days of doing this.

Will we win? Eh, I am not convinced we will, but I do this because I want Hollywood to understand that JD has a powerful and very large group of fans that don't take excluding him lying down.

MINAMATA Updates

Unread post by fireflydances » Tue Mar 01, 2022 7:59 pm

The fact that Minamata has made it to the Leader Board is significant. Does it mean Minamata will win an award Oscar night? Probably not, but what we CAN win is the attention of Hollywood. There was no reason for anyone to avoid distribution of this film. And they need to understand that and LISTEN to the people. As JD always says, the fans are the boss.

So, spend a little time over at the Academy on twitter tonight. We have three nights to make a difference. Follow directions about those three phrases or words that must be posted, but otherwise enjoy yourselves writing sly comments about the mistake of ignoring this film. Money is the only thing they understand in Hollywood, and each of our votes demonstrate that money could have been made. Oh well, maybe next time they'll think twice before shoving a JD movie aside.

This is going to bring so much attention to it, though I think it doesn't have a shot at winning in the line up and it doesn't matter. It being featured on this is big.

Minamata/JD featured on the biggest awards show. That made me so happy!

I pre-ordered/purchased it on Vudu. My husband and I watched it tonight. Beautiful movie, touching, important for our world. OMG! Watch it! you will not be disappointed! Fantastic! Even my non-movie-fan husband was touched by this film.

Never thought we’d actually get to finally see this film. But I was able to tonight on Amazon PRIME Video. I agree with you, Nebraska, completely!!! (The three exclamation points are in honor of Johnny.). Johnny was just pitch-perfect in this role. I admire him more than ever.

I sure hope it eventually makes it to the DVD format - this is a film I would always enjoy watching one more time.

I purchased it on VUDU so I can watch it as many times as I want, but I would love a region 1 bluray with lots of extra features.

MINAMATA Updates

I discovered today that in addition to being on Apple TV and Roku, it is also on Amazon Prime for rent or purchase. I still remember seeing it that day in February in the basically empty theater. It buoyed my spirit -- just a total, satisfying, deeply human movie. So good. I really treasure it. And, hopefully, today or sometime this week I can sit down with my daughter and show her the movie.
