Do not hotlink.Hotlinking (bandwidth theft) is direct linking to a website's files. For example, if you embed a picture from another website, using that website's URL to the picture, every time someone opens the page that the picture is on, bandwidth is being stolen from the originating website. If your embedded link to an image looks like this:

http://www.johnnydeppfan.com/photo.jpg
http://www.deppimpact.com/photo.jpg
http://www.johnnydepp-zone.com/photo.jpg

Then you are hotlinking the image straight from johnnydeppfan, deppimpact, or the Zone. You are "stealing" their bandwidth, costing them money and threatening the existence of their website.

It's very simple to avoid hotlinking. Never post an embedded picture from any place other than your own website or image hosting account (i.e., Photobucket, TinyPic.com, imagevenue.com, or imageshack.us) We check pic addresses of embedded pictures and there are serious consequences for members who continually post hotlinked images.
Do not post any pictures of Johnny's children. They did not ask to be in the public eye, and the photographs of them are all the result of paparazzi invading their privacy. Johnny has made it clear that he detests this. Out of respect for him and his family, we will not publish any pictures of the children on the Zone. This includes any fan-created video montages.

Almost all paparazzi pictures are allowed to be posted at the Zone.Occasionally there will be a photo or series of photos that are so intrusive to Johnny's privacy that the administration will remove them from the board. Please note that it is not a poor reflection on the person who found and posted the pictures; it is strictly in the best interest of Johnny's privacy.
Do not start a Pic Party devoted to any of Johnny's body parts.("Johnny's Chest," "Johnny's Fingers," "Johnny's Lips, etc.) These threads are inappropriate, since they view Johnny as an object and not a complete human being; this is inherently disrespectful to the person this site honors. These threads are also contagious; one leads to another, and very quickly the DeppChat & Pic Parties forum starts to look like Anatomy Class—something Johnny would surely despise.

Johnny's smile, which is not a body part but an expression of his inner being, is an exception because it takes in his whole face rather than a particular part. (By contrast, a thread called "Johnny's Lips" rather than "Johnny's Smile" would be inappropriate. See the difference? One anatomizes the man while the other appreciates his complete self.)

Pic parties about Johnny's hair, if they comment on his changing hair styles and colors over the years, are perfectly valid. So are threads devoted to his tattoos, which are an expression of the total man and his inner being, and inevitably lead to interesting discussions about his character and values.

"Body parts" threads, by contrast, focus on one particular part of Johnny's anatomy for the sole purpose of gawking at that part, over and over and over again. This is incredibly demeaning to the man the site honors: intentionally or not, the thread-starter is treating Johnny like a piece of meat, and is encouraging others to do the same.
Do not post pictures (embedded or linked) from someone else’s Photobucket.(Photobucket or any other image hosting service) Save the pictures to your own account; then post it from there. The Zone considers members' Photobuckets as their private property, similar to a drawer in a desk. That drawer should not be opened by anyone but the owner.

If you discover that a Zone member has posted pictures from your Photobucket without your consent, either on the Zone or any other website, please contact a member of the Zone administration as soon as possible. In your PM, give the name of your Photobucket and a copy of the post (and website, if it's not on the Zone) which links to your account. Be sure to include the screen name of the person who "borrowed" your picture.
You may post a photo from another website only as a clickable link.Do not embed any pictures onto the Zone unless they come from your own photo account.

To get your URL link to display a clickable Link button—on your message form screen, click the LINK tag button, write the web address of the picture, and click the LINK tag button again to close the tag. That inserts the picture address link on your post as a clickable Link button.
When sharing pictures on other Depp sites, please be courteous and give proper credit. Please credit the Zone and the member who posted the pictures. Do not share a member's personal pictures with any site unless explicit permission has been given by the member.
Embedded pictures can be no larger than 800 pixels wide by 1000 pixels high. Our board features prohibit posting any image larger than that...you will not be able to submit a post until you either reduce the size of the image or change the embedded picture to a clickable link. Larger hi-resolution images are welcome on the Zone, but they must be posted as a clickable link (using the URL or LINK tag buttons) or as a clickable thumbnail image.
There is a limit of 3 embedded pictures per post, except on the Recent Pics forum. If you want to post more than that, please use the URL or LINK tags to post a clickable link, or post a clickable thumbnail image. You may also use another post to post three additional pictures, but please don't go overboard in posting multiple posts.

You may post more than 3 embedded pictures per post on the Recent Pics forum.
When you reply to a thread, please don't "quote" a picture which has already been posted in the thread. That is an unnecessary waste of space and bandwidth—everyone has just seen that picture, there is no need to post it again. Edit the quoted post image from the IMG tags to LINK tags to post a clickable link instead. Thumbnails may be "quoted" as they are considered clickable links instead of embedded images.
