The Zone's 2006 Birthday Project--New total: $4,300!

I'm putting this on the News & Views forum for now because I know many members have been waiting for updated totals from the Birthday Project, and I wanted to be sure you could see this amazing news right away.

ACK just sent me the data on what the Zone has raised for Children's Hospice via Paypal and the Cafe Press merchandise shops (the money from bracelet sales goes directly to Children's Hospice, through their link, and so is not included in these figures).

Our present total is $3,900.02!

Obviously some Zoner had to put her two cents in . . . :twocents: :jester:

Approximately $3,200 has been raised through Paypal donations and about $700 through merchandise sales at the Cafe Press shops.

Those are amazing numbers-- :thanks!: thank you so much for supporting this wonderful cause that means so much to Johnny. I hope you feel joy knowing that your donations will help to provide comfort to families with critically ill children. Even something as basic as a phone card to speak to loved ones, or gas money to cover the cost of a visit to the Hospice . . . such simple things mean so much.

And just to add one last bit of cajoling, in my best PBS-telethon tradition . . .

. . . we are so close to raising $4,000 for the Birthday Project! We only need $100 more to reach $4,000 . . . if you have a few lonesome dollars lying around from your last visit to the gas station, Lori and Devon could put them to very good use.

The Paypal link is still open--you can donate here:

And the Cafe Press shops are still open, too:

Thanks again to ACK for handling the Birthday Project, to Liz and the Zone designers who helped with the shops and the merchandise, and to each and every member who has helped to give Johnny this wonderful birthday present.

You are fantastic!

Thank you for giving us an update on the total for the birthday project so far, part-time poet and ack. It's wonderful to see that so much money has been raised for such a worthy cause. I'm extremely proud to be a member of the Zone community for being involved with a project like this. :grouphug:

Beautiful...just a great gift for Johnny and more imporantly for the children treated at the hospice. I never realized before this started how much people can do for children who are struggling with severe illness and their families. I know we made a difference.

PTP, ack and all who helped bring this to the Zone - thank you so much!!

We made it! $4,000! :bounce: :bounce: :bounce:

(Actually it is a little over $4,300, which is very appropriate (as one of you kind Zoners pointed out -- $100 for each year of Johnny's life! ))

Thanks so much again to all of you who have contributed!
