Registration Guidelines

• You must be at least 13 years old to join the Zone.

• You must have a working email address to receive the activation email.

• You cannot already be a member of the Zone. (This includes deactivated and banned members.)

• Certain usernames are no longer allowed. See post below for the guidelines for choosing a Zone identity.

• You must agree to abide by all the rules and guidelines of the Zone.

• Zone registration is not automatic. It is a process that takes several stages.

You must be at least 13 years old to join the Zone.

The Johnny Depp Zone recognizes the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act of 1998, Title 13 of the United States Code, Section 13 (known as COPPA), and the regulations so provided for by the United States Federal Trade Commission.

The Johnny Depp Zone does not specifically target any of its content to children under the age of 13 years, nor does it knowingly solicit, collect, gather, receive, accept, or store personal information from children under the age of 13 years.

Since we require valid email addresses to register and remain a member of the Zone, we restrict membership to those of legal age to participate.

The Johnny Depp-Zone is intended for an adult audience and requires that all participants at this site be age 13 years or older. By submitting any content or information to this site, including but not limited to registration to use the message boards and access the members-only areas, the applicant for registration is acknowledging the age requirement and is confirming to the Zone that she or he is age 13 years or older. Anyone found to be in violation of this age requirement, or whose conduct on the forums leads the administration to suspect that she or he lied on the membership application, will be banned from participation on the site, and their personal information will be purged. It's the law.

Please be sure you enter your email accurately, and please add Natalie@johnnydepp-zone.com and theresa@johnnydepp-zone.com to your list of approved email correspondents, so you can receive messages concerning your registration. Without a working email address, your registration can never be completed. Be sure there is room in your in-box, too. And if you don’t hear from the Zone, check your spam folder.

You cannot already be a member of the Zone.

(This includes deactivated and banned members.) Members are entitled to only one screen name and only one identity on the Zone. To attempt to set up a second account with a different screen name is a violation of Zone policy and both names will be banned. Deactivated members who attempt to re-register with a new screen name will have both names banned. Banned members who attempt to set up a new identity will be banned again.

Certain usernames are no longer allowed.

Since choosing a screen name has become such a complicated process, please read the following rules carefully. Some words have been used in so many Zone screen names that we have now “retired” them.

We are no longer accepting new screen names containing ANY of the following words:

• Depp
  Johnny or John
  JD or JCD
  JDOCD
  Deep
  Pirate
  Jack or Sparrow
  Rum
  Wench
  Mrs. or Mrs
  Lover (or luver, luvr, etc.)

We don't allow the word "Noodlemantra" in screen names because we already have many Noodlemantras on the Zone--every member of ONBC, our book club!

We don’t accept screen names that consist of only numbers or symbols, or names that are identical to an existing member’s name except that a number is added somewhere.

Changing spacing between words or varying from upper to lower case will not create a different Zone name. The key concept to remember is that a new member will not be allowed to infringe upon an existing member’s identity. If the administration feels the name is close enough to cause confusion, the new applicant will need to choose another name. You will be contacted by the staff if your chosen name is too closely related to an existing member's name.

We don’t accept screen names that use framing devices, like ~*ScreenName*~ or ...::ScreenName:::... or xxScreenNamexx, or names that randomly mix upper and lower case letters, LiKe tHiS sCreEnNamE. We also don’t accept names written in all capital letters unless the name is clearly a set of initials (so don’t use more than three).

We don’t accept screen names that are the names of celebrities, including Johnny Depp or any of the actors, directors, or other artists or industry professionals with whom Johnny has worked. No real people, please, unless it happens to be your own real name.

We don’t accept any screen names that are sexually suggestive, profane, insulting, or hostile to the reader, that are in bad taste, or that seem likely to cause controversy. The decision to accept or reject any name belongs to the webmaster.

What works best now is to choose something personal—your own name or nickname, perhaps with an initial or a second word or city added if that name is already being used. If you want a screen name that hides your identity, try words related to your hobbies, interests, profession, or location.

You must agree to abide by all the rules and guidelines of the Zone.

By registering for membership, you indicate that you accept all of the site rules and the authority of the Zone administrators and moderators to enforce them. If you have serious problems with any of our policies, please look for another Depp site that will suit you better. All members are responsible for knowing the site rules before they post on the message boards.

Please note—Zone registration is not automatic.

It is a process that takes several stages. Administrators review each application, and this process can take several days to complete, depending on the administration workload. Do not register again while you are waiting—you’ll just lock both registrations out of the system, and both will have to be deleted.
