As the parent of very healthy, "normal" children, it is a privilege to be able to donate to a hospital that dedicates itself to making sick children better. What better gift to give someone, or yourself?
Thanks to all of you ladies for just being your generous, sweet selves!

It certainly is!LiMoss wrote:Nearly $6,000 - now that's a beautiful thing!
And when you think of what it can do for the Child Life Fund at American Family Children's Hospital, it becomes even more beautiful.
For example, $6,000 will supply a birthday party for 240 different children who have to spend their birthdays in the hospital. That's twenty different birthday parties a month, every month for a year!
That's a whole lot of cheer spread around a whole lot of little faces . . . day after day after day. A gift that goes on giving--like the happiness that Johnny gives to all of us.
Well done, Zoners.

I'm going to hold those birthday party images in my mind!
Thank you all for organizing this, and thanks to Johnny for helping all of us become our best selves.
That is a wonderful thought --thank you. I had not thought of the joy and happiness and fun these gifts would give. I guess I thought that they would provide medical or social services. For example, $6,000 will supply a birthday party for 240 different children who have to spend their birthdays in the hospital. I am also happy to know that the money will go toward making the child's stay a little happier. Cincinnati Children's Hospital is world renown (polio vaccine) and has so much money they can't spend it fast enough, but my son's many stays there were endlessly boring for him. I love charities that give directly to the children.
So glad I decided to participate.

The motto of the hospital's Child Life department is "Helping kids be kids."CarrieKY wrote:stroch wrote:ptp saidThat is a wonderful thought --thank you. What better way to honor Johnny than by donating to a hospital that tries to fulfill that motto?

Exactly! And every child deserves a birthday party, especially if they are in the hospital.theresa wrote:The motto of the hospital's Child Life department is "Helping kids be kids."CarrieKY wrote:stroch wrote:ptp said That is a wonderful thought --thank you. Even though it's almost over now I just wanted to say how thrilled I am to be a part of the Zone this year and able to contribute to this wonderful project. What an amazing amount of money to have been reached in such a short time. Sometimes we think that because we're only one person we can't make a difference or do anything worthwhile but this Birthday Project is proof that one person can and does make a difference. All the money that was collected was given initially by individual people and maybe those individual amounts didn't seem to be very much to the giver, but when it's all gathered together and totaled up the amount is suddenly much larger and each little individual gift of love becomes one big gift of happiness for kids who may not have much in life to be happy about if they're sick and in the hospital. PTP and all for allowing us to join together and make a difference that most of us could never make on our own!!

I want to thank all the people from the zone who contributed to again a great children's charity. I want to thank all the admins & mods who put everything together. I think Johnny would love the hospital's motto "Helping kids being kids". He would enjoy seeing smiles on those children's faces, and maybe get a chance to read to them.
I think he would be amazed how his admirers chooses the right path, and makes unselfish acts of kindness. He would probably have tears in his eyes

Thank you, PtP and moderators for arranging this wonderful opportunity for each of us to follow Johnny's example, if even in a small way. Like Alicia said, one by one we may not be able to do much, but together we can make a difference.

INCREDIBLE!! I don't know what to say! Such a beautiful bunch of generous beings here on the Zone! Wow! You ladies are awesome.
I personally couldn't donate, however, I'm sure Johnny would be so proud of all of you, If he ever got to knew!
Thank you all for being so wonderful.
