We are having one trip in June and another in September so far. Here are some of the projects we have available for late June. In summary, there are 2 major work sites: 1) Black Mesa and rural areas that need help and 2) Cameron which may need some additional fundraising. Right now, we are aiming to have the June trip volunteers work in Cameron to help Larry Gordy build a home and install a water pump for Thomasina Nez. Project numbers 1 and 2 are in black Mesa, and 3 and 4 are in Cameron.
1) Repairing some water pipes, faucets, and installing water pumps
Our group installed 5 water systems back in September, and we have to install a water pump at each one ($600) so people can get water to the sinks. and in addition, we would like to replace the faucets at the systems as well as add some insulation to the piping. This is very much needed, and we'd like to do it in the summer before the winter comes, because there is a chance some of the pipes may freeze over if we don't put in insulation.
2) Complete projects for the Begay's tile and some drywall at the Benally's
Our UC Berkeley chapter started this project in March, and we may have a few things for people to complete. From what I understand, there is about a days work of drywall to finish at a home in a remote area, and there may possibly be some tile work that needs to be done. This is needed, and is something we would like to do this year. this could be a supplementary project when doing the first project (water systems) above, since its in the same area.
3) Work with Larry Gordy on a house for him (we dug a foundation) or to put his trailers together
Larry Gordy lives in Cameron, AZ and we dug out a foundation for him a few years ago for a new home. He has a large family and he's an amazing guy.
Larry would need some help to either 1) complete work on two trailer foundations so he can bring those trailers to his home and start building on them. Or, 2) Larry said he can finish digging out the foundation, then he can pour concrete and put up some blocks for the home. For the 2nd option, Project Pueblo could pay for a jackhammer, and Larry would need about another $2-3000 for a foundation. Once the foundation is laid, Larry said he could do the rest of the house over time (would require about an additional $15000 total for the whole house). This is a great, fulfilling project because we are building a home for someone that needs one, and Larry is the best storyteller and one of the great Navajo leaders in that area--volunteers love working with him (myself included!). This project would require some extra fundraising, but we would LOVE to pour Larry a foundation in June with your help!

This would be a supplemental project in Cameron, AZ. We finished up almost all of this project in March, but we would like to install a water pump (about $600) and there may be some smaller projects to complete here to finish up anything that Thomasina needs. This would probably not be the primary work site--it may only take 5 or so volunteers.
5) Work on a community center for the Navajo people and Project Pueblo
We have been talking about building a community center for Forgotten People and also one where Project Pueblo volunteers can stay in when we do mission trips. We do have some funding for this to lay down a concrete foundation and possibly put up some walls, but we would need additional funding to complete it. This is very much needed, and something we want to start on this year. It would allow for the Navajo people to meet and to rebuild their community, and would give us a place to store materials, sleep in and work out of during trips. we may need to raise some more funds for this ($2000 to $5000+, depending on the structure).
6) Possibly another project that we haven't discussed yet
There are always changing needs for the Navajos in this area, and we can talk more to our partners to see if there is something that is needed that we haven't listed.
