Well done Lbock for getting the troops going - I had every confidence I would wake up to it trending and so it was!

I've said this before but I honestly think that until after the VA trial there will be no JD new film projects. And he has to use that in VA to his advantage - look at what the lies have done to him.

It is incredible that the people are still with him, he is very loved.

We have no choice but to keep going - supporting Sauvage, SM, but most importantly watching his films on streaming networks - and of course those of us in UK - going to see Minamata. I am furious I will be on holiday when it comes out but will go multiple times once I am back. And we need to rate and review it on Rotten Tomatoes and any other sites.
Sorry but I'm not ready to write him off with movies. I believe when the dust settles he will be back in a big way. From what I read, he is still getting offers but wants to take some time off to do other things. Right now he is making music with Jeff Beck.

I would love to see him in an Amazon or other TV series - good gritty drama. He is a major draw.

MGM is connected to those rats Warner Brothers.

"As of 2017, MGM co-produces, co-finances, and co-distributes a majority of its films with Sony Pictures Entertainment, Paramount Pictures and Warner Bros.

Amazon has acquired MGM a few months ago. So not connected to WB. MGM is probably going to release the film but without any fanfare or promotion is what Andrew's letter implies. Needless to say, people are making noise and I hope they cave. This is a real awards contender if they put their weight behind it.

The film is out in quite a lot of territories, so there's plenty of opportunities to see it. It's being released next month on DVD and Blu Ray in Spain (but no English subtitles apparently, so problematic for the Japanese portions), Australia on DVD (only it seems for now) in September and it's on demand in a lot of countries.

‘Acclaimed photographer Stephen DuPont denounces MGM’s “burying”of the film, Minamata in North America.’

What’s it going to take for MGM to do the right thing?

I don't know. I spend a lot of time wondering about that and what purpose there is in refusing to release a film in North America (Canada and the US) but release it everywhere else. Makes no sense. And I don't think it has anything to do with money because clearly MGM would make more money if it was released here, yes? So, there has to be another reason. Perhaps a personal reason, meaning someone or some group of people have a specific reason for holding up the film.

One would likely have to do a lot of research to figure out who or what group of individuals is influencing MGM. Investors? All that sort of thing.

Am I correct that the DVD is out in Australia - and only there at the moment?

I can confirm DVD is out in Australia. I don't know about anywhere else.
