Heh, Tsujihara did what he did and I doubt there's any conspiracy here. The fact is, Toby Emmerich fired Johnny. And he is a prick, he's involved in other nasty stuff that makes WB as toxic as it is right now.

If there truly was something to the Tsujihara angle, they wouldn't have let Johnny start shooting FB: TSoD. Also, JK Rowling, Yates, Heyman and co saw the evidence back when they cast him, hence why they stood by him while the ignorant public protested back then.

I guess Emmerich and others thought, as Johnny likely did, that the libel suit was a slam dunk. Then Emmerich was a coward and for god knows what reason decided to can him while being fine with letting you know who return.

To think that Johnny would have shot FB: TSoD without any issue back in March or if the libel suit had gone his way is pretty gutting but it is what it is.

Hi Newt 😊 Sorry if I gave the impression that I thought Tsujihara was brought down by fabricated allegations. I think he dug that hole for himself. What gets me is the timing and whilst coincidence could explain it, the leaked documents being dumped on THR almost immediately after JD sued AH (WaPo Op-Ed) is, well, “interesting” (imo).

I’ve no doubt your assessment of Emmerlich is spot on, and I’ve no idea of how Tsujihara would have responded to being pressured to drop JD, but history has shown that Emmerlich wielded the axe and he wouldn’t have been in place to do so unless Tsujihara was out of the way.

I think the verdict in the UK surprised everyone (except on TeamAmber). Tsujihara was (apparently) under pressure over poor ratings for FB2, so he was easy to scapegoat. But when casting AH for AM2 JD’s reputation was irrelevant, only AH’s. The verdict in the UK was all about JD, but the CoA findings were all about AH’s lies, her violence and how Nichol delivered a technically sound but quite incorrect verdict. It takes a very special form of blindness to ignore the CoA findings and exonerate AH. And the CoA findings were out long before AM2 filming started.

Great news and I wholeheartedly agree :)

I have bugger-all money myself but would probably be able to scrape together $1,000 to invest. A share offering with only small bundles (maybe $1K - $10K) of non-voting shares available (to prevent current large studios buying in and hijacking it all) would probably be very popular. As I’m not in the industry, I would gladly allow experts and artists to make the creative (and business) decisions, so non-voting shares would be quite acceptable. And whilst dividends and profits would be great, I would be prepared to accept some losses just to have something of quality to watch other than the formulaic pap being served up by Hollywood at present.

And investor benefits need not be measured in dividends alone, they could also be in intangibles like access to early releases or voting in an internal award program (private Academy-like), but benefits should be designed to reward support, not impact profits (imo). All castles-in-the-air of course 😊

Instagram shows 11m supporters and I suspect the actual numbers are far higher. Even with a support uptake of between 1% - 10%, sums of between $100m and $11b are conceivable. And that’s just JD supporters.

It's never been implied Tsujihara was under pressure for the "poor ratings" of FB2 (it had a mixed reception rather than poor I'd argue) though.

He had much bigger problems obviously to deal with. As for Emmerich, the trades talked about it, it was a "fait accompli" for Emmerich once Johnny lost in the UK, so yeah, he made the call. My guess is that he likely wasn't too hot on Johnny being in the role and once he was in the position he was in and Johnny lost the libel suit, he didn't want to bother with it I guess? But anyway, it is what it is.

In California, LAPD has filed their opposition to the Pitchess Motion - which is essentially the same argument they used before.

This twitter thread has the images of relevant portions of the filing, including the original denial, and the subpoena they filed in VA. (Sorry, twitter is the only way I know to post images here).

There was an exhibit that included Johnny's list of expert witnesses.

Correction (possibly). It looks like Depp has a page or two missing
The original list is in this motion, you'll have to scroll down

This might be "Mr Barnia" (Doug Barnia?)
