First, thank you, Lbock, for providing that link to allow us to read that hideous piece in THR this morning, without giving that rag a single click. It’s taken a lot of “stop and goes” and deep breaths to get through it.
The one thing that kept interrupting my anger over the twisted facts, the omissions, and the fabrications was the chilling desperation. Ms. Siegel’s determination to just say whatever it takes - it’s almost a now or never endeavor. Just do what AH did repeatedly: lie, embellish, pretend. Ms. Siegel goes back to some familiar reader touch points (e.g. Joel Mandel, Jake Bloom, Tracey Jacobs, significant others, “wild fans” incapable of coherent thought, etc.) and then literally rewrites history believing, I suppose, she knows more than her readers.
Done in one lengthy, outrageous monologue, she purposely leaves no time for the reader to stop and validate anything, moving from one sensationalized, edited, or downright fictionalized vignette to another. But, I didn’t feel hopeless. I was, actually, experiencing a bit of deja vu angst as I remembered Rolling Stone’s hatchet piece, pathetic cover and all. At least RS pretended to interact with Johnny. This piece is a gotta-get-it-done, truth be damned hit piece wreaking of contrived expose’ just as AH’s fabricated testimony did; it is also reckless, just as AH’s testimony was.

Let me guess.. THR is owned by NGN?
THR is part of MRC Media and Info, a division of MRC (Media Rights Capital) which merged with PMC (Penske Media Corp) on
September 23, 2020, to form what is now PMRC. Jay Penske of PMC and Asif Satchu and Modi Wiczyk of MRC, are the guys in charge at PMRC. Owners? Didn’t come across that term. Seems like every Hollywood tabloid, including Deadline, Rolling Stone, Variety, The Billboard, and now THR as well as many more, are one, big conniving family. Only The Wrap is on its own.
There is significance to all this: look at the date. Just a few weeks after the Nicol Judgement. THR, new kid in this PMRC house, eager to show what they can do, turn to Tatiana Siegel, their Executive Film Editor to knock everyone’s socks off.
Siegel probably had this ready to go. As
Lbock pointed out:
“The more I think about it. That piece took a long time to research. That piece was in the works and written because everyone expected him to win (granted they tweaked it with the verdict). Bet that was a PR Kaplan commissioned piece.”
If nothing else, THR proved they’re certainly where they belong, amongst the amoral, ruthless, a-life-for-a-story dregs of the tabloid world. PMRC have nothing to worry about, unless they believe in fact checking. In which case, they’d best pull this vendetta, return the blood-money, and invest in some long term, on-the-job retraining in journalistic ethics.
