Re: The Lawsuits Thread
Also, on the subject of donations to the charity, I really hope that Depp's lawyers can put in more effort by showing some past history such as this article where AH agreed to pay all donations within 2 years from Dec 2016. It should have been donated by Dec 2018 then.
They should not give her lawyers to have the opportunity to say she "pledges" to do it within years now because he sued her. But he only sued her in Mar 2019. It's almost like she has the super power ability to know in advance she will be sued.
https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.dailym ... -Depp.html
And the video where she said on TV:" I donated everything, I wanted nothing!"
The point about Elon Musk donated 500K or 1 million in her name is not relevant because she said herself she did not want those settlement money in 2016. All these shows her incredibility and her motive with regards to the abuse hoax.
I know it was just the opening statements yesterday but if going forward his lawyers can't even prepare all these attack moves, it would be very disappointing to see.
In the UK trial, and yesterday Christi's cross examination, I thought I always see how they tried to discredit Johnny's witnesses because they are on his payrolls.
Really wish that this time round, his lawyers could do the same. Rocky and Josh are not reliable witnesses too because they stayed rent free in his apartment and they had everything to lose and thereafter participated in the hoax.

It looks like everything from the UK trial is out. That was where she escalated from sexual assault to the first time she claimed he raped her twice (sealed testimony). That's probably why EB/Amber introduced the new rape by wine bottle allegation - push the stakes up like they did in the UK. Popcorned planet mention that that may be used to get the cameras out of the courtroom. They also noted her costuming was muting any Femme Fatale components. I guess it would have looked OTT if she went Amish like in 2016.
And Bredehoff (arms swinging wildly) said "and she didn't get it all at once, it was installments spread over YEARS" (or similar). And, and, and, and mean Johnny sued her!!!! What a lie. First payment of $1m was 16th Feb 2017 (3 days after settlement reached) (a couple of other payments already made though) and the last was less than ONE year later on 1st Feb 2018 ($2.3m). Coincidentally about the same day she dropped Elon for the 2nd and last time. Also, on the subject of donations to the charity, I really hope that Depp's lawyers can put in more effort by showing some past history such as this article where AH agreed to pay all donations within 2 years from Dec 2016. In retrospect, and trying to understand this case from zero I would see Ben Chew calmly laying out their case in an orderly manner, then Camille introducing Johnny, what sort of evidence would be presented etc. Even reading from the pages gave me the impression she had carefully done her homework and was going to spread all the evidence clearly in front of them.
Agreed, Ben Rottenborn did come off well imo. And then Elaine got up. WTF? She seemed like a scatterbrained school marm, but not in a good way. Maybe a spinster that got bored selling shonky used cars to people so she went into law to defend shonky car sales barons? The sort of person that gets home one night and realises the cat has left and she can't remember when. I really, really didn't like her and I don't think it was my Depp bias.
Then she launched into this tirade. All the jury has heard so far is basically the article was published that maybe defamed him, maybe it didn't (6 weeks to decide). Johnny and Amber were married, they got divorced, she said, he said, blah, blah - then bang, Io phoned Rocky, fecalphobia, boo did it but Johnny blamed Io who was in New York - then Johnny wound up and pitched her iphone underarm. It was all imaged on the cloud, so it must be true. And Keith Richards and MM can tell you how hard he parties. He's also a Monster,
She threw a wall of crazy at the jury imo. I thought at first maybe I was tired or it was just me reacting to the lies she was pushing so casually, but she really did seem a little unbalanced when I watched again later. She threw in all these statements without any proper context and added another serious crime allegation. I'm not sure that would have parsed well with the jury, and it sets them up to expect to be confused by anything else EB presents. imo.
I went in totally objectively. Only I later realised I wasn't. When I reviewed (lots of) it later and watched various discussions, I saw I had been filtering everything through my own knowledge of the case. When EB got up and started ranting at high speed I was ticking off the lies and character smears, I wanted to scream (at the jury - pointing to her yelling "LIAR"). But I had already woken my wife once casting the raw feed to the TV, I had the headphones on and my screams would have drawn her ire.I think AH's lawyers are more natural, quick witted and eloquent than Johnny's lawyers. Honestly, I am very worried.

I hope to see Johnny's lawyers to be more argumentative and quick to pick up and counter attack, going forward.

I agree that her lawyer Elaine looked a big crazy and I think it's pretty bad when your lawyer is a better actor than you are.

Christie was testifying for Johnny. You never ever get argumentative with a witness who is testifying for your side. You never want to risk upsetting a witness who is testifying for your client. The only way you would do that is if one of your witnesses suddenly decides that they don't want to answer questions Then, they can be declared a hostile witness.thiefcat wrote: ↑Tue Apr 12, 2022 11:56 pmI think AH's lawyers are more natural, quick witted and eloquent than Johnny's lawyers. They seem very prepared. AH was taking notes throughout and at one point, she passed her notes to her lawyer. I am afraid this gives her an edge.
After that, I think the lawyer, when cross examining his sister, brought up the subject that AH visited Johnny's mum at the hospital a few times with Johnny. I guess this move was to give the impression that she did care for her mother-in-law and not some ungrateful snobbish bitch. They are quick with damage control.
I hope to see Johnny's lawyers to be more argumentative and quick to pick up and counter attack, going forward. We have not seen Johnny's lawyers cross examine a witness
The part on his mother and childhood was difficult to see. Johnny was so sad.
Each side takes a turn presenting their case. Johnny 's side goes first because he is the plantiff. His side will present their witnesses and examine them in a nice manner. The ther side gets to cross examine them. It is their job to try to discredit the witness. When Johnny's side is done, Amber's side will present her defense. They will bring their witnesses and treat them in a gentle manner. Then, it will be time for his side to hammer her witnesses. It is not good to treat your own witnesses badly. That could also upset jurors. Please be patient, you will see how good they are at cross examination when Amber presents her defense.

It'll be exciting to see Ambie's witnesses unable to keep their stories consistent, tripping up and I'll bet we'll hear a lot of "Objection" from Ben and a ton of "Sustained" from Judge Penny. And my, when Ben gets to counter examine those weasels....

Re: The Lawsuits Thread
I am glad that they brought Christie in as their first witness. It was painful to watch. . But she is testifying to the fact that he was abused as a child. What is more important , is that Christi testified that he leaves when there is an argument. This sets up the foundation for the tapes Those tapes are extremely painful to listen to. But, the jurors need to hear her shouting at him because he leaves every time they have a fight. She belittled him and called him a coward. Everyone can hear that AH is an abusive bully.

Re: The Lawsuits Thread
I know we will see hard hitting questions from Johnny's side whe AH's witnesses take the stand. His lawyers will bring up the discrepancies. They will have a hard time keeping their lies straight. I expect a lot of fake crying from AH and possibly some of her witnesses. I do not think Ben Chew will cross examine AH and possibly some of the other female witnesses. AH wants everyone to think that she is a poor little female being picked on by men. It would be better to have a female lawyer cross examine her. I am sure that her lawyers know this. Anyway, that is in the future

Does anyone know for sure: Is Zellner confirmed in or out?

Re: The Lawsuits Thread
I just checked and there has not been any paperwork filed for Kathleen Zellner to leave the case. However, there was paperwork filed by Johnny's side to admit an attorney named Yarelyn Mena. I guess we won't know if Zellner is off of the case or working behind the scenes unless they file paperwork for her to leave.justintime wrote: ↑Wed Apr 13, 2022 9:58 amDoes anyone know for sure: Is Zellner confirmed in or out?

As far as I know, there was never any appearance of her filed with the court, so she might just be a member of the team behind the scenes.Judymac wrote: ↑Wed Apr 13, 2022 10:49 amI just checked and there has not been any paperwork filed for Kathleen Zellner to leave the case. The ex doesn't look well today. She looks very tired This is going to be very hard on her if she doesn't get her act together.
From what I can see, she's still wearing the same hairstyle from Monday, just changing it a little bit.

Day 2 of trial.
They finished up with Christi today and now his friend Isaac has the stand. Right now they are on break for a few minutes.

Thank you for sharing. I guess I was freaked out yesterday. It's very nice watching Issac's testimony now.Judymac wrote: ↑Wed Apr 13, 2022 8:41 amChristie was testifying for Johnny. I was equally angry when Elaine started ranting and I think nobody expected her doing it for an hour. Was on my ear piece and my partner was upset with me and did not think I should invest so much time and thoughts on this case.Inquiring Minds wrote: ↑Wed Apr 13, 2022 6:34 amthiefcat wrote:

Was worried about the impact from her malicious lies to the Jury who do not know the details of this case. But you are right. She is digging a hole for herself.
Look forward to seeing AH and her expose by the voluminous evidence, layer by layer, in the coming days.
