IFOD is indeed saying tomorrow's the last day in most theaters which doesn't make any sense to me. If there's no expansion and that's it, then Samuel Goldwyn just gave it a token release just so it would qualify for awards. So bizarre. Or it didn't perform at all, but I've seen no numbers for it.

What's annoying is that the film is available on Blu Ray in multiple countries but none of them (on purpose perhaps?) have English subtitles for the Japanese portions which are pretty substantial. I'm keeping my eye on a UK Blu Ray release but nothing so far.

Once again, the film will likely expand from week to week, and that won't necessarily show up right now on the link you posted (and the numbers doesn't always get updated to the latest info).

What's the issue here? The film is getting released, several companies are shifting dates because of Omicron. I gotta say I'm partial to a hybrid model these days with a streaming component but it's really cool that they're doing a proper theatrical run.

Look, it's absolutely fine that Minamata probably won't be in the Oscars. The film has all sorts of other awards from other countries where the film industry is able to identify an electrically compelling movie. That ain't here -- the US is all about making money from shlock material that retreads ...

The film itself just doesn't have enough traction. There are plenty and plenty of films that are already earmarked for the Oscars, Golden Globes, etc, and it'd take a miracle for them to get in. It's awesome that they're campaigning, but it should have happened way earlier.
