I don't have much hope for Virginia. His name is never mentioned in the op-ed, and opinions have broad protection under the 1st amendment. It is really hard not to be discouraged. The best thing about this case is that he is fighting and doing his best to get the truth out there. The stain of...

Johnny's performance in this movie is understated excellence! I am excited to see it finally getting released and hopeful it will get more and more exposure.

Question: In the libel suit isn't the question if the newspaper believed what they printed, even if they found out later that they were mistaken. The trial seemed to concentrate on whether the story was true, not if the paper believed it at the time. Of course, they should have printed a retraction.

I thought anti-SLAPP laws were changed after the case was filed or after the piece was published, not sure which, but would not apply retroactively. All this is so confusing and it is exhausting.

Johnny Depp, Julien Temple Documentary About Shane MacGowan
This is an updated (12/04/20) review/interview worth reading before and after seeing the film. A casual mention of Johnny early on, but about three-quarters through there’s a whole paragraph about Johnny’s involvement. I ordered it on Prime Video (Amazon), but am waiting till Saturday evening to fi...

And just maybe we don't know the whole story and Johnny wasn't fired because of "bad" optics. Who knows. What I see is Johnny got to announce it himself via a letter. How many actors can even do that or have done that? Break the news themselves before any trades? The trades would have loved to be t...

What am I missing here? The lawsuit accused the Sun of libel for a headline that called Johnny a horrible name. Wasn't the entire lawsuit supposed to be about whether the Sun had reason to believe at the time of writing that what they published was true? The court case became a trial about Johnny's...

WAITING FOR THE BARBARIANS--Updates, Reviews and Discussion
The book was very much the Magistrate's story. Joll played a critical role in the story and I think Johnny portrayed him well. The book club here on the Zone has a discussion about the book with lots of interesting background information if you would like to know more about it. It helped me understa...

Johnny's letter was done with so much quiet grace and dignity! Personally, I would like to honor that approach of his by maintaining my own calm. He and his team are managing things behind the scenes, and I trust them to make good decisions and move wisely.
