Cinematical reports that Johnny Depp has “shown interest” in a film script concerning the life and mysterious death of Edgar Allan Poe. This is only a rumor at this point, with no confirmation from Johnny’s people or a studio . . . however, Johnny as the great horror/mystery writer and poet is one rumored project that we’d love to see happen. According to Cinematical, the script (called FOREVERMORE) interweaves the puzzling events of Poe’s last days–the official cause of his death is a medical mystery–with his memories and his writing, as his life “flashes before his eyes.” Johnny’s affection for Poe as an author is well known; he and the late Vincent Price, who starred in many films based on Poe’s work, used to read Poe during the filming of EDWARD SCISSORHANDS.
