Good news for Canadian Zoners! THE LIBERTINE will premiere on August 5th!

Canada continues to be the venue of choice for Laurence Dunmore’s film about the deliciously decadent Earl of Rochester. A Canadian film site is now announcing a premiere date of August 5, 2005 for THE LIBERTINE, starring Johnny Depp as John Wilmot. That is two weeks ahead of the announced U.S. premiere date of August 19th–in limited release only, alas. A French premiere date of November 23rd, 2005 has been announced, yet, oddly enough, there is no premiere date yet for the UK, birthplace of the notorious Earl, where interest in THE LIBERTINE should be most keen.

Zoners will remember that THE LIBERTINE was shown as a work-in-progress at last September’s Toronto Film Festival, to date its only public screenings. Now we have reason to envy the Canadians again, as they will apparently have first glimpse of the finished film. Thanks to DeepinDepp for posting the information on the News & Views board.
