A new trailer for THE LONE RANGER–see it here!

Disney unveiled a new, longer trailer for The Lone Ranger today; in this classic Western tale, native American spirit warrior Tonto and Texas Ranger John Reid are “opposites brought together by fate” who band together to battle injustice and corruption. You can see the new trailer here:

Johnny Depp plays guitar for charity at Alice Cooper’s Christmas Pudding fundraiser

The photo at left shows Johnny Depp and Alice Cooper performing during this year’s Christmas Pudding concert in Phoenix, Arizona. The December 8th event raised funds for Cooper’s Solid Rock Foundation, a non-profit organization dedicated to enriching the lives of teens through music, dance, and self-expression. The enthusiastic crowd got their money’s worth, too, with Johnny, Alice, and Cooper’s touring band performing a set that included “Break on Through,” Revolution,” “Foxy Lady,” “My Generation,” “Under My Wheels,” “Poison,” “School’s Out,” “Another Brick in the Wall,” and a Christmas finale (complete with sparkling confetti) of “Run, Rudolph, Run.” Pictures from the concert are available HERE.

“If there had been any doubt as to how big a deal it was when Johnny Depp signed on to play at this year’s Pudding, that was cleared up at the mid-show auction,” reports Ed Masley of the Arizona Republic. “[A]n autographed painting of Depp by ‘world’s fastest painter’ Rock Demarco, including a chance to meet the famous actor? That brought $27,000. A guitar the actor signed, which also included a chance to meet him, brought another $20,000.” Amazing!

Johnny Depp appears at The Mint in Los Angeles–new photos!

In what is becoming a regular occurrence, Johnny Depp took the stage with a guitar for a couple of hours of rock ‘n roll on December 7th . . . this time he was playing with Bill Carter and the Blame at the Mint in Los Angeles, and among his bandmates was longtime friend Bruce Witkin. Johnny wore his customary black hat with a feather, and he was playing his new blue guitar, the Duesenberg Mike Campbell model. You can see photos from the gig HERE. Many thanks to Emma and Theresa for the pictures. You can read more about Johnny’s appearance at the Mint on the Zone’s Pit General Discussion forum, including comments from Zoners who were there — lucky ladies!

Disney closes deal for “a modern re-imagining of Don Quixote” to be produced by Johnny Depp’s Infinitum Nihil

Add another film to Infintum Nihil’s in-development scorecard: an as-yet-untitled modern take on Don Quixote to be written by Steve Pink and Jeff Morris, and produced by Infinitum Nihil’s Johnny Depp and Christi Dembrowski. According to Deadline.com’s Mike Fleming, “The project is best described as a modern re-imagining of Don Quixote.” Longtime Zoners will recall that more than a decade ago, Johnny Depp was attached to appear as the Sancho Panza figure in Terry Gilliam’s The Man Who Killed Don Quixote, a film that was shut down by a string of calamities chronicled in the excellent documentary, Lost in La Mancha. There is no word yet on whether Johnny will act in the new Don Quixote project or which role he might play.

Infinitum Nihil has also produced Dark Shadows, The Rum Diary, the upcoming Disney release The Lone Ranger, and Martin Scorsese’s Oscar-nominated Hugo.

Johnny Depp performs on WEST OF MEMPHIS: VOICES FOR JUSTICE album

On Tuesday, January 15, 2013, Legacy Recordings will release West of Memphis: Voices For Justice, an album of music and songs inspired by the new Sony Pictures Classics film, West of Memphis, which chronicles the case of the West Memphis Three. The album serves to raise awareness for the continuing fight for exoneration of the West Memphis Three.
