Johnny Depp arrives at Japanese premiere for THE TOURIST–new photos!

The photo at left shows Johnny Depp arriving at the premiere of his romantic thriller The Tourist at Roppongi Hills near Tokyo on March 3rd. “Hundreds of fans braved near freezing conditions in Tokyo in order to meet their hero Johnny Depp,” the Associated Press reports. Johnny was accompanied by The Tourist‘s director, Florian Henckel von Donnersmarck; co-star Angelina Jolie could not attend the premiere “due to her work for the U.N. in Afghanistan,” but she did send a video greeting which was played for the crowd.

Johnny picked up a microphone and spoke directly to the Japanese fans who had waited in the cold to see him. “Hi you guys, good evening. Hi. Thank you so much for coming out again, especially in the cold and being here for all these hours to support us and to say hi,” Johnny said. “It’s much appreciated as always and, as always, couldn’t be happier to be anywhere else. This is the best place in the world, so thank you very much. Thank you.”
