PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN: ON STRANGER TIDES will film in 3D

Captain Jack Sparrow will be bringing something new to movie theaters when the fourth installment of the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise comes into port next summer. Disney has confirmed that Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides will film in Disney Digital 3D, rather than being shot in 2D and then converted to 3D. This will be director Rob Marshall’s first 3D feature. Despite what some media outlets are reporting, the release date for On Stranger Tides remains unchanged: it will be sailing into a theater near you on May 20, 2011.
