Congratulations to Johnny Depp–25 Years on the Silver Screen!
Twenty-five years ago today, on November 16, 1984, Wes Craven’s horror film A Nightmare on Elm Street opened in movie theaters across the United States, introducing one of cinema’s most memorable villains, Robert Englund’s Freddie Krueger, and–oh yes–launching the career of the most versatile actor of his generation, Johnny Depp. Johnny made his movie debut in the role of Glen Lantz, the boyfriend of the film’s heroine Nancy (played by Heather Langenkamp) . . . and his performances have kept us glued to the screen ever since. Many thanks to Wes Craven for his innovative film (which spawned numerous sequels) and his wise casting choice, and congratulations to Johnny for twenty-five years of unforgettable performances. Well done! We can’t wait to see what’s next. –Part-Time Poet
