The photo at left, of Johnny Depp hoisting a Golden Popcorn trophy at the recent MTV Movie Awards, appears in People’s “Star Tracks” section on page 18 of the new issue (cover date June 16, 2008). That was a popular shot, because Life & Style carries the same photo on page 21 of their June 16th issue, with the following caption: “Johnny Depp stole the show–and got a standing ovation from Lindsay Lohan–winning Best Villain for SWEENEY TODD and Best Comedic Performance for PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN.” The Star, opting for the grotesque rather than the newsworthy, gave their MTV Movie Awards coverage to a photo of Rainn Wilson wearing nothing but a teddy bear; there is a photo of Johnny Depp in their current issue, but it is a vintage pic with Winona Ryder in an article on famous couples who called off their engagements.
