On Saturday, July 22,its 16th day of release, DEAD MAN’S CHEST passed the $300 million mark in domestic earnings, beating the previous record-holder, STAR WARS EPISODE III–RETURN OF THE SITH, by a day. By Saturday, DEAD MAN’S CHEST had earned $311,322,000 . . . more than PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN: THE CURSE OF THE BLACK PEARL earned in its entire six-month run in North American theaters in 2003.
