BREAKING NEWS–Johnny Depp attends Paris premiere of PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN: DEAD MAN'S CHEST

Johnny Depp received a warm reception from fans in Paris when he arrived for the premiere of PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN: DEAD MAN’S CHEST. Johnny was accompanied by his partner Vanessa Paradis; Vanessa wore a black dress and Johnny a black shirt and trousers, and his full complement of trinkets, including necklaces. Zone members Frenchy and Carasun attended the premiere and report that both Johnny and Vanessa graciously signed autographs for them and the other fans along the red carpet, as did Orlando Bloom and producer Jerry Bruckheimer. Frenchy tells us, “When he signed it, looked at me and gave me a big smile….I was undone!” You can read the full account of her adventure on the “Back from the Paris Premiere” thread on the Porch; members can see Frenchy’s photos on our Recent Pics forum. We thank her for sharing her story with us, and we look forward to reading Carasun’s as soon as she recovers from meeting Johnny Depp.

"Paris has been very kind to me": Johnny Depp receives the City of Paris's highest honor

The mayor of Paris, Betrand Delanoe, took the occasion of the French premiere of PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN: DEAD MAN’S CHEST on July 6 to present Johnny Depp with the Grand Medaille de Vermeil. It is the city’s highest honor for achievement and is only given to those who have displayed devotion to Paris. “I’m very honored and very touched, and a little bit shy,” Johnny said–in French–as he accepted the award. “This country–the city of Paris has been very kind to me,” Johnny added. “It introduced me to my beautiful girl Vanessa, and it gave me two beautiful kids. It doesn’t get any better than that.” The Zone thanks emma for supplying the transcript of Johnny’s remarks and emma and Charly for the the videos of the ceremony on our Video Clips forum.
