Johnny Depp, Keira Knightley, and DEAD MAN'S CHEST nominated for 2007 Nickelodeon Kids' Choice Awards

Nominations were announced today for the 20th annual Nickelodeon Kids’ Choice Awards, which honor favorites in film, TV, music, sports, video games and books. Johnny Depp received a nomination as favorite male movie star; other nominees in the category include Jack Black, Adam Sandler, and Will Smith. Johnny’s PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN co-star Keira Knightley was nominated on the distaff side; other nominees for favorite female movie star include Halle Berry, Dakota Fanning, and Sarah Jessica Parker. The year’s box-office champion, PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN: DEAD MAN’S CHEST, was nominated as favorite movie, along with BIG MOMMA’S HOUSE 2, CLICK, and NIGHT AT THE MUSEUM.

Deppheads have fond memories of Johnny’s surprise appearance at the 2005 Kids’ Choice Awards, when (as the picture at left testifies) he was greeted with several gallons of green slime. (You can relive that event by visiting the Zone’s “Getting Slimed” gallery in The Deppartment–click on the GALLERIES button above.) This year’s ceremony will take place at UCLA’s Pauley Pavilion on March 31st; three-time Kids’ Choice winner Justin Timberlake will host the event. Kids can begin to cast votes online on March 5th; a complete list of nominees is on the Zone’s News & Views forum. The Zone thanks Theresa for breaking the story. –Part-Time Poet
