Johnny Depp has appeared in several music videos during his career, and will be adding a new credit to his resume soon. Acclaimed video director Tony Kaye, whose most recent award-winning effort is “Dani California” by the Red Hot Chili Peppers, has been given the rather daunting task of directing the videos for the late Johnny Cash’s final CD. For “God’s Gonna Cut You Down,” Cash’s song about the Grim Reaper, Kaye has filmed a Who’s Who of current pop culture; in addition to Johnny Depp, we’ll see Keith Richards, Owen Wilson, Bono, Kanye West, Jay Z, Justin Timberlake, Kate Moss, Chris Rock, and Trevor Howard, among many others, taking turns mouthing Cash’s lyrics over his signature gritty vocals.
