Johnny Depp received a nomination as Actor of the Year from the London Film Critics for his performance as Willy Wonka in Tim Burton’s CHARLIE AND THE CHOCOLATE FACTORY. Other nominated actors include Don Cheadle (recognized for HOTEL RWANDA and CRASH), Bruno Ganz for DOWNFALL, Heath Ledger for BROKEBACK MOUNTAIN, and Viggo Mortensen for A HISTORY OF VIOLENCE. The critics, as always, favor the heavily dramatic roles, so to achieve a nomination in lighter fare speaks volumes about the impact and quality of Johnny’s performance. The London Film Critics award winners will be announced on February 8, 2006.
