New 21 JUMP STREET movie wraps; look for brief cameo by Johnny Depp

Jonah Hill, who stars in and co-wrote the upcoming big-screen version of 21 Jump Street, sent out a tweet confirming that the film has wrapped. Hill and Channing Tatum play young(ish) police officers tapped to go undercover at a high school; Hill describes the update of the late ’80s television series as “an R-rated, insane, Bad Boys-meets-John Hughes-type movie.” Always a good sport, Johnny Depp took time to film a cameo for the new Jump Street earlier this spring; no details have leaked about his contribution, but expect it to be extremely brief, raunchily comic, and tinged with the absurd. JD shot to fame playing Officer Tom Hanson on the original 21 Jump Street, of course; those episodes are available on DVD. The Hill-and-Tatum version debuts on March 16, 2012.
