THE RUM DIARY update–Filming returns to Old San Juan

Bruce Robinson’s film of The Rum Diary returned to the streets of Old San Juan on Monday, after several weeks of shooting in other areas of Puerto Rico. Primera Hora reports that part of O’Donnell Street was blocked off throughout the day so Johnny Depp, Michael Rispoli, Giovanni Ribisi and other members of the cast could be filmed walking along the street. Hundreds of people “infected with Johnny Deppmania” gathered to watch, according to El Vocero, and waited for “long hours under the intense sun of San Juan” to be able to see “their favorite actor in the vicinity of the set of The Rum Diary.Glimpses from a distance had to satisfy the crowd, since there was no opportunity for a meet-and-greet in these conditions, but Johnny did wave to the crowd.
