Johnny Depp wins SyFy Genre Award as Best Movie Actor for SWEENEY TODD

Congratulations are in order once again as Johnny Depp picks up another award for his performance as the crazed barber in Tim Burton’s film of Stephen Sondheim’s SWEENEY TODD: THE DEMON BARBER OF FLEET STREET. Johnny has been named Best Movie Actor in the 2008 SyFy Genre Awards; Best Movie Actress was Emma Watson for HARRY POTTER AND THE ORDER OF THE PHOENIX, which was also named Best Movie. The SyFy Genre Awards are conducted by the science fiction and fantasy website SyFy Portal; now in their ninth year, the SyFy Genre Awards allow fans to “honor the best of science fiction television, movies, books, comic books, and web productions for the year.” More than 50,000 ballots were cast this year.
